Pupdate: I don’t know how I didn’t think of this, I think you suggest it in the videos… crate training her when she’s hungry, and her Kong is full of delicious smelly chicken. She went right in.

Hi Pamela! She’s pretty used to the eating in the crate routine, and I leave her water in there. It’s still near impossible for me to get her to go in for a treat/when I’m not leaving the room. Yes. My concern is that she won’t go back to her food when I leave it in her crate, it looks untouched normally so I’ve been pulling it out for the midday meal (she’s still healing so I’m doing three meals, the two main in the crate). Do you have advice on getting her in the crate? I had to leave the house twice yesterday and after 10 min of coaxing I had to physically pick her up and put her in. Which I’m sure was scary and traumatic and had all the wrong negative associations we don’t want, but I didn’t know what to do. I feel horrible she’s so scared

Yes, I’m pretty positive she’s peeing based on how wet one corner of her bed/towel always is. It can’t be drool.. and noted!! I will remove the bedding things, she just was so terrified of the hardwood slippery floors when we first got her I felt bad leaving only the plastic liner. We’ve been making great progress! We walked them together twice yesterday, keeping them outside of us. Today Bry and I let them walk on the inside of us and they did GREAT! Just wanted to let you know we tried walking them together a bit and it went well! We’re going to go again tmrw for longer, work up to moving the dogs inside us humans if them being outside of us goes well. Thanks so much for your feedback and advice! I will update you soon 🙂

Yes Gizmo is my roommate Bryana’s dog, so she’s 100% involved in both the foster process and helping with the intros! Her boyfriend could also accompany us on the walk, either extra hands/space or to get video of it. I did watch those videos, they’ve been very helpful! I just wasn’t sure if we should wait a period of time, or start the spaced out walking now. Hi Pam!!

Sorry I didn’t know how to see replies on here. I’m not positive on Winnie (foster pup)’s age but I think 1-3 years? Medium sized, maybe 20-30lbs. She’s very malnourished and weak, so mainly she’s been sleeping in her new crate (which she LOVES, that was the right call!)

I have a sweet new foster dog that came from Mexico, she’s very timid and exhausted and mostly sleeping. She didn’t come with a crate and I’m wondering if I should buy one.
