We have been fostering a wonderfully sweet dog for a little over a week. She is very bright and responsive, walks well on a leash, and sits pretty well on command (not perfectly – she sometimes waits a few seconds before she sits). The problem we’re having is she seems too attached to me. When I leave (and my husband is still home with her), she will start pacing and will try to leave the house, if he opens the door. She is not a complete velcro dog, but is usually not more than one room away from me. Do you have suggestions for how I can help her feel more comfortable when I’m not home?
