Leash skills are a very personalized type of training.  I describe leash training as a building block approach using tools and skills that are based on the specific needs of the dog I am working with.

There is, however, one practice that is great for ALL dogs. Walking your dog in a safe space with visibility and room on a long leash is a GREAT practice.  You are teaching your dog to follow you and to give them some freedom at the same time.  What a great negotiation and it is fun for you both!

The parks are not very busy right now so get yourself a long leash, find a safe space, and practice this with your dog.  They may just surprise you!

Here is the link to an example of a Martingale Collar that I show in the video.  It is important that this collar is fitted properly to your dog.  If you have questions please don’t hesitate to reach out.  I can help you.

Don’t Forget – You can always ask me questions in our “Ask The Trainer” discussion group.

Happy Training!
